We also spent some time in Africa, going on safari and seeing all the animals, Australia was next, in a storm Stella fell overboard, we just managed to get her back, during another storm Michael fell into the sea with Stella, Michael found his football that helped keep him afloat but soon tired and started to drown, Michael woke up alone on a Island, Stella also found him, now Michael would have to somehow survive long enough to be rescued
I found it magical. I love orang utans and travelling, so instantly I was hooked. But the special part was the development o f the relationship between Michael and Kensuke and how they learned from each other a way of coping with each other's losses, whilst at the same time, achieving happiness in the island amongst the animals there.
When a few months have passed, Michael and his dog fall overboard and are washed up on an island. A man called Kensuke lives on the island. Michael thinks he is a crazy man at first, but gradually they become best friends. When a year had gone by, with Kensuke, Michael's parents finally find him and take him and his dog home.
I like this book because it show that Michael's parents never gave up looking for him, and that we should never give up. I would love to know the story of when Michael got home.
The main characters in the book are Michael, Michael's Mum and Dad, Kensuke and Stella the dog. Stella the dog was my favourite. She was very loyal to Michael and also loved Kensuke. I love dogs too.
I enjoyed reading the book. My favourite was when Michael was reunited with his parents, it was a very happy moment in the book for the whole family but I felt sad that Kensuke chose to stay behind. I think there is a chance his wife and child are still alive.
I didn't like it when the killer men came to the island and killed the two mother gibbons. It was very frightening and tragic.
I would recommend this book to my friends and family. There is a lot of drama and the writing is very descriptive so it allows you to imagine what the characters are going through.
